Very delightful animation! Would buy a full game if there was one
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Monstrüous is a puzzle game in which you have to figure out in which order to use 8 actions to kill the monstruous creature. It usually takes about 45 min to complete the game. No crazy gaming skills required, it's the perfect game to play with your non-gamer friends or family ! a game by Arnaud Millot :

Very delightful animation! Would buy a full game if there was one
Haha thank you Oori ! Don't expect a full game anytime soon though, these things take time ;)
Hey Arnaud, excellent animation! Was it done using flash or photoshop?
Played, replayed to find animations I missed, came back to donate. Thanks for this delightful little creation!
this is the second ending, i got it after a read the frog dies but still finishing the game. it took me 2 3 tries to got this :D
PS: DONT WATCH IT IF YOU WANT TO FINISH IT YOURSELF!
It took me a while to get the ending where the frog dies but I was sad when that happened so I sifted through comments for the other ending to see if it was different, It isn't... But It's very awesome! Is it a demo? If so will the finished game be on Steam?
Hi Ben ! Sorry for the disappointment, at least you got to see the frog dance and got a sense of accomplishment. It's not a demo, more like a first short game to see if I could make one and now I'd like to make a second game which would be pretty different, to explore a new genre
hahaha, THAT is awesome ! Thanks for letting me know that it went all the way to China ! I can't understand a single word that he's saying but his acting/editing is hilarious :D
An excellent game!
The animations were all very fluid and lovely. I enjoyed trying to solve the puzzle, and though I was sorely tempted to just look up how to solve it, I'm glad I didn't. I actually thought it through, and got the ending where the frog fella lives! I won't get the other one, tho, I don't want him to die! I especially like the warrior lady and her tea.
I would love to play a full game with similar mechanics to these!
Thanks for holding on till the end O-Gin ! :D That's a very nice feedback you give me here, and you're not the first to say the horse lady is your favourite... that's funny, I thought the little robot with the party hat would get all the love :)
You're welcome :) Maybe it is because the horse lady is so easy to understand. Her first action is hitting, and second is drinking tea to hop her up, so she does real damage. Easy to put together XD
But for everyone else, you have to link their actions all together-like frog's trumpet charges the sorcerer's bubbles, and robot breaks the sorcerer's bubbles. But horse lady stands on her own. Sorta!
I tried to play the game, but at a certain point the images stop and I can not see anything anymore, but the game continues to work as if nothing had happened.
P.S. using high performance graphics I had no problems, but I do not understand why with the default graphics it has problems
Hi Dart, sorry that you experienced difficulties running the game with your default configuration...
It is due to the game being fully animated, and to me not being a skilled programmer, so it's certainly not perfectly optimized...
I hope you still were able to run and enjoy the game though !
Such an amazing little game! I love the visuals, very creative :)
amazing. such a simple concept, and so engaging
Hi Jacob Peter ! As many mentionned here, I got the puzzle-combination game design from Eyemaze's Grow games but I'm glad I managed to do something engaging with it ! ^^
Cool visual style and nice to play!
Hey, thanks for your comment Chandeskee ! I'm really glad you appreciated the cartoonesque vibe I put into it ! ^^
its really nice to play something like this!
i didnt know there are hint after my friend played it. it took me 5/6 tries to figure out a way.
SPOILER ALERT: DONT WATCH IT IF YOU WANT TO FINISH IT YOURSELF!
thanks Coconut Mousse for having played the game and making a video capture of it ! You did it pretty fast, I'm impressed ! ^^
but still, i cant figure out the second ending :P any clue?
you got the hardest ending right, so that should be quite easy... You just have to mess up the order a bit so that the frog wouldn't be protected (the endings are not that different from each other so you won't be missing out a lot if you don't get it)
I like this a lot. It's a nice mix of logical and lateral thinking for a puzzle game. The handrawn animation was quite nice. The way the decisions and events progressed over time reminded me of Eyezmaze's GROW games. Considering it's probably been almost a decade since I last played those, that was a pretty cool flashback of nostalgia to have. Good job all around, I hope to see more :)
Eyesmaze has made more grow games since then, I reccomend checking out the new ones!
So I'm not the only person that immediately thought of the GROW games!
I didn't realise they were so well known.
I just bought this game, but it's unplayable on my laptop. :'(
oh really Calliope ? Sorry about this ! please send me details of your configuration so I can look into it ! Are you on PC, Mac or Linux ? Is there any error message ? I'm looking into refund options in case we can't make it work on your computer
I am on PC, there is an error message of "Can't create a OpenGL 3.3 Rendering Context" followed by another message immideiatly after saying "Your system's graphic drivers seem not to support OpenGL 3.3/OpenGL ES 3.0, sorry. :( Godot Engine will self-destruct as soon as you anknowledge this error message" I'm not super sure what details I need to send, but my laptop is a five years old or so samsung, with pretty much everything standard still in place aside from a replaced hard drive.
Please try to update your graphic card's driver. You can also e-mail email@example.com and request a refund.
Hope this will work ! And again, I'm sorry for this mishap Calliope !
Is there only one solution?
nope Jojo, there are 2 : one in which the frog dies, the other where it lives. But the endings are pretty similar :)
OK, I love this little game, but I am stumped. I think I have tried every combination. Can I have one hint please? Thanks.
well, the hint would depend on what stucks you. And I'd rather not post solutions here, so send me a PM and I'll try to help you subtly :)
It is amazing! Really digging the art style, animations and gameplay. Very excited to see what future updates bring and how the game is further improved
Thanks for your support Afro Panda, here and on twitter ^^ I'm still not sure what I'll be doing next but I hope it will be up to your expectations !
perfect!!! great ideas and amazing animations/visual xD
p.s. sorry you monstruous_LINUX.7z file contain only "resource" without *.bin file (monstruous_LINUX.zip is okey, work perfect)
This is such a fantastic little gem! I would legitimately play through a whole narrative puzzle game where each encounter used this mechanic!
